Common myths about pirates

When you think about pirates you often think about they way they are represented in movies or children's book. Unfortunately a lot of the information is not real. One of the most common myths about pirates is that they made their victims walk that plank. This was in fact a rare for of execution in the 18th and 19th century. Some other common ones were that they buried their treasure so no one else could find it, that they wore eyepatches and had peg legs. There is so much real things about pirates that got overlooked by the myths they have been portrayed in famous movies and books that most people today don't know what real life pirates actually did and did not do.
